About me

Hi, I’m Nikki — a self-taught photographer with a deep love for animals and the stories they tell.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me working as a Research Assistant in mitochondrial diseases at The Kids Research Institute. As well as a dog trainer with Trusty Tails, where I’m committed to a gentle, compassionate approach that puts each dog’s wellbeing first. That same philosophy carries into my photography: patience, understanding, and capturing authentic moments as they unfold.

Together with my partner Jorren, I share my life with my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Mowgli, and my horse, Kenzi — my biggest inspirations both in sport and in art. Together, Mowgli and I compete in Scentwork, Hoopers, and Dryland Dogsledding, while I’m working toward returning to jumping and eventing with my horse Kenzi.

Photography allows me to combine all of these passions. I regularly capture moments at Trusty Tails mock trials and training sessions, and I’m proud to work with the not-for-profit organisation BioPaws Detection, documenting the incredible work they do.

For me, photography isn’t just about images — it’s about connection, movement, and preserving the unique bond between animals and their people.
